Founders Day 2017

Today we celebrated Southwell's 106th birthday for Founders Day 2017.

It was a great day filled with heaps of fun and some funky line dancing!

In the morning, we had a Founders Day chapel service where Bishop Helen-Ann gave an amazing inspirational speech. After morning tea, we had a short assembly in the Great Hall followed by gathering on the oval to have a party!

To kick it off, each house participated in line dancing, with my house (Durham), dancing to Cotton Eye Joe. It was great fun, except for the worms which were everywhere! Yuck! Anyway, after the line dancing, we had a students vs teachers relay race, with the teachers taking it out in the end. Following the race, everyone linked up for GIANT school conga lines! After that, we released Southwell balloons into the world beyond to celebrate our school's 106th birthday! Later, we had performances from both rock bands during lunch on the oval.

It was a great experience and definitely the best founders day I have ever had!

  1. I like how you described each activity and included the chapel service e.t.c instead of just the time on the oval.
    Good Job!
